Story
The HMP Send Mental Health In Reach (MHIR) Team are stepping it up and fundraising for CNWL charities!
Mental health services are vital within the prison system. Incarceration can be an isolating and challenging environment, and it's often difficult for individuals to track their steps or engage in physical activity, which are both essential for maintaining mental health. The lack of space and freedom to move around in a prison setting can also make it even harder for individuals to stay active. This also has an impact on individual's physical health.
This will be an extra challenge for our team, as all steps tracked will take place outside of working hours or across lunch breaks due to the security restrictions of movement trackers in prison estates.
Walking and spending time outside have been shown to improve mood, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being. Alongside raising funds for CNWL charities, we also want to promoting the importance of movement and fresh air in maintaining a healthy mind for our team members.
